With more than 11,000 hours of experience working with public transportation companies, DragonPoint has written applications that solve business challenges including:
- Tracking every maintenance task and part for each fleet vehicle on the road.
- Identifying eligible riders for Transportation Services for individuals with Disabilities.
- Tracking ridership data.
- Following all national, state, and union requirements for assigning drivers to routes for public transportation vehicles.
- Identifying and completing preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles to minimize down time.
- Maintaining appropriate inventory levels for parts used for vehicle preventive maintenance and repairs.

Fleet Management
Here are some examples of functionality included in DragonPoint’s fleet maintenance software applications.
- Preventive Maintenance: create preventive maintenance schedules specific to the fleet type for various intervals (number of miles driven).
- Work Orders: automatically generate preventive maintenance work orders for each vehicle and manually create work orders associated with accidents or unplanned repairs.
- Parts: manage parts required to maintain the fleet, including parts maintained in inventory, ordered only when needed, and perpetual supply (such as fuel).
- Purchase Orders: track vendor pricing per part; automatically generate purchase orders required to maintain inventory levels; release work orders based on authorization rules.
- Receiving and Inventory: receive parts against purchase orders; track part consumption; and maintain min/max levels.

Driver Assignment
DragonPoint has written custom applications that automate and standardize the enforcement of business rules for managing the assignment of drivers to public transportation vehicles.
Drivers are assigned to fleet vehicles based on complex business rules from the federal government, state government, and local union. A few of the rules include assigning quarterly routes based on seniority; providing a required rest period of no less than X hours between runs; and prohibiting drivers from exceeding a specified number of hours of work across X days.
Functionality in these applications includes:
- Import of runs and bid sheets from a run-cutting system.
- Assignment of drivers to runs based on bid sheets.
- Managing drivers to cover planned and unplanned absences using extras who cover runs when the scheduled driver cannot.
- Tracking exceptions to planned work.
- Integrating with a payroll application for scheduled and unplanned work (exceptions and coverage).
- Assigning drivers to buses (bus board).
- Dispatch management and reporting.
- Tracking holidays and school schedules, which impact runs and/or payroll.

Other Public Transportation Software Applications
DragonPoint has also developed custom transportation applications to:
- Identify residents and visitors who quality for multi-county paratransit services.
- Perform ridership counts, including ADA riders, using tablet devices that temporarily store data until it can be synchronized with the back-office applications.
In addition to creating complete transportation solutions, DragonPoint has provided business intelligence and reporting modules that work with our custom applications or with off the shelf software packages.
